Vertebrate Trips with the Animal Biologists

This one's pretty short

This is really just a couple pictures I have to share from a class I took on Vertebrate Zoology and what a different experience it was in and out of the classroom. I ended up writing a little mock paper for the class tracking hummingbird feeding behavior.

some of the data used for the paper and totally sophisticated data collection (I think I watched over 400 clips of birds feeding and manually entered the information).

I suppose I should include pictures of the experimental setup. It was really just a 2x4 frame and brackets I made and 3D printed. The project was oringinally inspired by hummingbird visits to a tomato plant I had!

For some reason, pictures aren't loading, sorry about that.

Actual Trip Pictures

The animal people have a word called "Herping" where you pick up lizards and snakes and compete to see who can find the most of a species or flip the most rocks or something. Here are some pictures from those trips!

This one is actually my former roommate and a monster of a fish he caught down in Emeryville. The guy (left) telling us about the fish said he has been fishing evry day for the last few months as he was unemployed (real). We call him the fish wizard and he shared some secret spots.
Monster!
